Dr. Berghella holds a degree in economics and has been providing fiscal and financial assistance to Italian SMEs for 10 years. Mr. Robert Shive: Is an investment executive with the Wall Street Complex of Paine Webber, Inc. He specializes in corporate services, and has over 15 years experience with international trade finance companies. Mr. Shive is a law graduate, and has served on committees of both North American Securities Administrators & The National Association of Securities Dealers.
Dr. George Chaplin: Is the President of IBC, Inc. A physicist graduated to business and finance, Dr. Chaplin earned his reputation by developing successful businesses. He is known for his creative financial models and practical solutions to business expansion. He has over 20 years experience in developing and consulting to small and medium sized businesses. Mr. Dennis D. Spice: Is a managing member of Open Praire Ventures as well as Chairman and CEO of Institutional Advisors, Ltd., an international private banking and consulting firm. He holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration, and is a nationally recognized expert in pension and investment issues. He is the author of several financial articles published in the Wall Street Journal, Commercial Finance Review, Institutional Investor's and Venture Capital Journal.
Dr. Andrew S. Jones: Is Director of Operations at Labthermics Technologies, Inc. which designs, produces and sells an FDA approved ultrasound hyperthermia device for cancer therapy. Dr. Jones received an SBIR Phase II Grant to develop an applicator for treating cancer in an intact breast. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Illinois, College of Commerce and Business Administration where he presents a two day off campus seminar entitled "Marketing High Tech Products" through the Executive Development Center. He also teaches in the MBA program and the Chinese Short Course program. The Chinese program brings Chinese managers to the University for courses in free market concepts and current American business practices. Dr. Jones subjects include Operation and Funding National Labs, Marketing New Products, and Technology Commercialization. His academic interests include: Commercialization, New Product Development, Corporate Body Language, and Truly New Product Marketing.
Dr. Jones received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, his Doctoral degree in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Alabama with a dissertation in Solid State Electrodynamics, a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Alabama.
Dr. Jones has also been employed as a Principal Investigator for the U. S. Army Construction Engineering Research Lab, developing the phenomena of Feedback Control of Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance. He also managed a $1 million technology transfer program for the Corps of Engineers.
Dr. Jones was founder and president of Data View, Inc., which provided custom engineering, product design, custom hardware and consulting for customers in the financial trading industry. Data View, which served as the development lab for V Band Systems, generated about $1 million, per year in revenue. Dr. Jones assisted with a $5 million initial public offering (NASDAQ:VBAN) and a $13 million secondary public offering which reached a market cap of over 100 million during 1987.
He was Director of Sales and Marketing for Carroll Touch Technology and in a four year period, grew sales from zero to over $3 million. Dr. Jones assisted in securing a $1 million venture capital investment for the company in 1981, which was acquired by AMP, Inc. two years later for over $5 million.
Dr. Jones is a licensed pilot and conducts research on the history of United States involvement in Asia, in particular the history of the China Marines and the relationship of the failure of the post WWII China policy to later conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. Jones was a Captain in the U. S. Marine Corps and served as a company commander in Vietnam.
Mr. Brian A. Swartz: Is the third generation to manage farms and sell farm real estate, and has over 20 years experience in sales and auction management. He farms and manages 2,000 acres of Central Illinois farm ground in three counties, including the family farm originally settled in the 1860s, and his herd of registered Angus beef cattle have won numerous national awards in livestock competitions. He was educated at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Missouri Auction School in Kansas City, Missouri and the Certified Appraisers Guild of' America in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Mr. Swartz has worked extensively in animal agriculture for 20 years and is internationally known in the beef cattle business. He has worked with the University of Illinois in research in genetics, feeding and beef production. In addition, he has served on several boards, including: the American Angus Association, Angus Productions, Inc., and Certified Angus Beef. Swartz also serves on the board of several organizations including, the University of Illinois Farm Tax School and Agricultural Law Education Foundation, Inc. He has established a network of farm and ranch owners across the United States, along with a network of Realtors, investment bankers, financial and tax advisors, and those actively involved in crop and livestock production. He also maintains constant contact with seed manufacturers and chemical producers and suppliers.
